Diligent announced its ProtecTIER Mid-range Entry Package and the Mid-range Standard Package, two appliances that let users perform disk-to-disk backup and deduplication of redundant data. While the appliances emulate the operations of a tape library, they are faster and with the deduplication of data, can reduce the amount of data being backed up by as much as a 20:1 ratio.
